Cowgirl Saturday started out as a social event where riders would meet just before Spring and Show Season.



March 2016 -- it's five years later and we'll see where it goes.

Our very first Cowgirl Saturday (March 5, 2011) was a super success and lots of Cowgirl Fun -- at least 30 riders. We met up with riders we hadn't seen in a long time and got to catch up with some great "Horse stories" -- I think "Horse stories" are much different than "Fish stories" -- ha, ha. There were very cool door prizes and a raffle for a beautiful, stained-glass horseshoe sun-catcher handcrafted and contributed by Chris Messner. Door prizes donated by Kelly Cole and Agway-Imperial.

Riders came from most all disciplines -- Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing, Endurance, Eventing, Hunter-Jumper, Dressage, Driving, Trail Riding and more! As well, some riders are instructors/trainers and barn owners. Yep, we had Cowboy Mike in his Cowboy gear and stunning black hat -- very handsome, too.

Discussions were lively -- most about need for venues for riding education and showmanship that is mixed and diverse (all disciplines) that is local and affordable.

Riders all brought horse & rider snapshots that we collected and mounted on a bulletin board to show-off what we all love -- our sport and our steeds! We'll take time to mount and frame the photos permanently to hang at Cole's Pub in Imperial shortly. There may be an opportunity to scan the photos and showcase them here, too!

We raised over $400 for donation to a horse rescue farm (Carolyn & Sharon) off of Seabright Rd (off North Branch Rd) towards McDonald. While we haven't met with them yet, Kelly has talked with them, and they were very surprised and so pleased to learn that they will receive our cash donation. Our mission was simply to meet and catch-up with friends and do something a little extra.

Many thanks to all of our Cowgirl and Cowboy friends -- and a special "thank you" to Kelly Cole and Cole's Pub in Imperial, PA for having us and making it great -- great food and drinks, too. Regular patrons at Cole's Pub helped us, too. We're all Cowgirls and Cowboys on "Cowgirl Saturday."
