This should be FUN!

About Me!

Well, it's not all that interesting; however, it will give my embroidery group friends some insight of what kinds of projects are great fun for me. I'm from Eastern Pennsylvania (USA) and throughout my career have relocated west -- Western Pennsylvania. Obviously, it has not taken me too far away from home.

I've sewn since I was about 14 years old on my mom's Singer machine with a treadle! In 1968, my husband bought me a traded-in "White" brand zig-zag sewing machine for Christmas. Woohoo! I was like a crazy, sewing gal! I made all of my maternity clothes and my son's baby and toddler clothes. After that time, and for years at a time, I hardly opened my sewing machine, and moved it from room to room and from city to city. Glad I always took it with me.

Most of my working career has been in corporate America and/or self-employment. I opened a business service center in 1984, and provided a host of technology services to area businesses and the local university. Since the price of a computer system for business use back then was well over $10,000.00, it was lucrative at the time. Desktop publishing, dissertations, resumes, presentations, specialized industry programs, etc.

After moving to Western Pennsylvania I went back to corporate America, but had a fascination with web design & development and taught myself, mostly, out of a book. And, the learning continues as internet media changes.

Over the years I've explored machine embroidery, but it never seemed to "rise to the occcasion" compared to other new technologies -- until now. I retired from corporate America July 2013 and continue my web site work. In 2014, I again researched machine embroidery. Around Thanksgiving, I found a "used" Brother PE-770 on Ebay with lots of supplies. No one bid on it, and I came in at the last 30 seconds and scooped it up! Little did I know until I set it up that it only had 14,000 stitches on it. And, so the journey began. I struggled with my designs without any software and by early 2015, I finally bought into Embrilliance -- little by little, but now have it all up to StitchArtist. I'm a happy gal!

Other Interests:

At age 55, I received a call, in early Spring, from a gal who asked me to meet with her about creating a web site for her business. I asked, "what kind of business do you have?" She answered, "I have a horse farm." Well, I wasn't going to miss that opportunity! I got the project! Since it was early Spring, the photo opportunities were grand with all of the green pastures and flowering trees! Within a few months, I was taking riding lessons and within a year I bought a retired Thorougbred who had been in her lesson program. Unfortunately, Eddy-Spaghetti, at 24 yrs-old, met the Rainbow Bridge over Memorial Day weekend of 2014 -- but, what an amazing ride! I still ride at another nearby barn -- English & Western.
